Maya Tenjyoji Temple is told that Indian's monk Hodo opened by the Kotoku emperor's instruction in 646. It has been said that it was a big temple where 3,000 monks exist before. It burnt down by arson in 1976. It was rebuilt to about 1km to the north now. It is maintained as Mt. Maya-san history park, and old precincts recall old times such as stone walls and stone steps and are hiking trails.
