Together with Yokohama and Nagasaki, Hakodate was the first Japanese port to be opened to international trade. Hakodate City, on the southwest tip of Hokkaido, is blessed with a relatively mild climate for Hokkaido and abundant nature. Hokkaido is located in the north in Japan.
