Syugakuin rikyu imperial villa (Kyoto Japan)

Kyusui-tei

Kyusui-tei is a pavilion, which stands on a small hill of the island. This is the only building in the Upper and the Lower Villas that still exists since the day of foundation. This building has ornamental tiles with patterns of chrysanthemum on shingled pyramidal roof. Kyusui-tei is a one-room building with 18 tatami mats. Six of the mats in the northwest corner are raised in an L-shape, surrounded by a frame lacquered in black.
